ALMAH Project

Why this project?

The underrepresentation of women in STEM fields is a global problem that must be solved through a variety of measures at all levels of society. Under the motto “You can’t be what you can’t see,” diverse initiatives have been launched worldwide to open perspectives beyond personal experience and limiting gender stereotypes.

The strong gender segregation in the occupational field is reinforced by the intersectional disadvantages of the target group of this project: the discrimination of non-native speakers on the labor market is just as much a factor as the shaping of expectations and behavior of more patriarchal cultures.

This combination of diversity factors can only lead to successful integration and self-determined personal development with strong educational (support). For this reason, the promotion of girls and young women with a migration and refugee background in the STEM fields is a necessary interface measure.
