Bosch Mobility Hackathon: students of UAS Technikum Wien won 2nd place

15 May, 2023

Students of the bachelor program Mechatronics / Robotics of UAS Technikum Wien, successfully participated in the Mobility Challenge at the Hackathon of Bosch Austria and FH Campus Wien.

A problem set and two days time: 24 students from different universities in six teams faced the first official Hackathon of Bosch Austria in cooperation with FH Campus Wien on April 22 and 23, 2023.

Among others, students of the bachelor program Mechatronics / Robotics of the FH Technikum Wien took part and dealt with the autonomous control of a car on two levels – once in the CARLA simulation and secondly in “real” on a 1:10 model car. Other students came from the FH Campus Wien and the TU Wien.

Knowledge in algorithms, graph theory, geometry and programming

The hackathon encompasses all these aspects, which is demonstrated in a cutting-edge problem. The students were thus given the opportunity to actively participate in the mobility of the future. To complete the Mobility Challenge, knowledge of algorithms, graph theory, geometry and programming had to be covered within a team.

In addition to their technical know-how, the students also demonstrated their social skills: The teams considered solutions together, tried out ideas, experienced setbacks, and implemented new ideas together – all under time pressure. The teams were accompanied and supported on site by mentors from Bosch, FH Campus Wien and Fetch.AI.
