Delegation trip to the Northern Lights

23 February, 2022
Rector Sylvia Geyer together with representatives of the Faculties of Life Science Engineering, Computer Science & Applied Mathematics and the International Office embarked on a journey to our partners in the North.
The trip took them to the Lapland University of Applied Sciences in Rovaniemi, Finland, the first international partner institution of UAS Technikum Wien. Until today, both institutions are not only connected by common experiences in the field of ERASMUS+ and projects in different research areas, but also share a friendly bond among colleagues of both institutions.
The visit in January 2022 was planned to unite the rectors for the development of a common Action Plan for the coming years as well as to start cooperation in the field of Computer Science and with the Sport Lab. In addition, a benchlearning project was wrapped up and the currently running project PrepaCare(XR) discussed. The delegation with Rector Sylvia Geyer met students of UAS Technikum Wien currently in Finland for their exchange semester and a meeting was organised with students from Lapland UAS to talk about the upcoming Blended Intensive Programme under the Erasmus+ frame with the focus on Smart manufacturing in agriculture or industry 4.0. A campus tour, a day trip to Kemi campus, and an introduction to FrostBit and the Olympic training center Santa Sport completed the programme.
The delegation returned after a week full of new ideas, a clear roadmap for the common future, and a glimpse at the Northern lights.
