Mechanical engineering students were given an insight into the fields of activity at CIS and experienced Austria’s largest industrial computer tomograph.

As part of an excursion to TÜV Austria, students on the Bachelor’s degree course in Mechanical Engineering (5th semester) at UAS Technikum Wien gained exciting insights into the fields of materials testing, inspection, certification and training and further education at the Vienna-Liesing site.

A particular highlight of the excursion was the presentation of Austria’s largest and most powerful industrial computer tomograph (ICT), whose versatile application possibilities were impressively demonstrated.

“Here we learned first-hand about the importance of materials testing and damage analysis in industrial practice,” says Patrick Eisner, head of the degree program. Finally, the students were introduced to the advanced Master’s degree course in Mechanical Engineering, in which a graduate and former class speaker was also actively involved.
