Five students start on international Mont Blanc Trail

01 June, 2021
The project of the Savoie Mont Blanc University (USMB) is not only a sporting challenge, but also aims to promote solidarity and interculturalism. Five students from the UAS Technikum Wien are taking part in the trail.
A total of 50 international students will start this coming weekend as part of the Tour du Mont-Blanc Erasmus+ Student Trail. Five participants from the UAS Technikum Wien will also take part in the five-day hike around the highest mountain in the EU, organized by the Savoie Mont Blanc University (USMB). The project, which is co-financed by the Erasmus+ program, is not only a sporting challenge. The organizers also want to promote respect for the environment and values such as solidarity and tolerance, as well as strengthen intercultural skills and a sense of belonging to Europe.
The students of our university are each assigned to one of five international teams that will travel together over the course of the coming week. The event begins on Saturday, June 5, the actual trail starts the next day in Chamonix. During the trail, the students will have to show team spirit and complete a number of tasks. In addition, a creative challenge awaits the teams: to demonstrate their ability to work together in an intercultural context, each group must produce a video as part of the trail. The video should present ideas on how sports can be better integrated and promoted at universities. The best video will then be awarded a prize at the online closing event on June 12.
Up-to-date information can be found on the Instagram account that the USMB has started especially for the event.
