Fostering partnerships in Boston, Flint and Iowa

Harvard Medical School, MIT and Tufts as well as Kettering University and Iowa State University: Delegation trip to the USA.
On October 5, 2022, a seven-member delegation from the faculties of Electronic Engineering & Entrepreneurship, Computer Sciences & Applied Mathematics, and Life Science Engineering departed to the US for a total of 10 days.

The program in Boston included visits to Harvard Medical School/ Wellman Center, Tufts University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Alija Sabic (virtual) and Martin Deinhofer (on-site, on the photo above) from the Department of Electronic Engineering & Entrepreneurship gave a Guest Lecture in the MIT course “Principles and Practice of Assistive Technology (PPAT)” by Dr. Kyle Keane (MIT).

Strange encounters in a Boston park in front of an MIT building: Demonstration of a robot dog and its soccer skills for students. After five very intense days in Boston, we went on to Flint, Michigan to our partner university Kettering University.

A visit to a micro-brewery right on campus was also a must.

As part of the First Robotics program, high school students competed in robot programming competitions in robot soccer and basketball. Are perhaps the next ideas born here in the Opportunity Lab (Makerspace)?

Last stop: Iowa State University in Ames, birthplace of the first electronic digital computer, known as the Atanasoff- Berry Computer. Extracurricular student projects at both Kettering and Iowa State University: interdisciplinary teams collaborate to develop off-road cars, ski doos, or even Formula 1 cars, which then compete in races.
