In order to support climate-friendly travel to work, the University of Applied Sciences provides all employees with a climate ticket or an annual ticket from Wiener Linien free of charge.

In times of climate change, summer heat waves and rising energy prices, the UAS Technikum Wien is setting an important example in terms of environmental protection and sustainability: the University of Applied Sciences is assuming the costs for a climate ticket valid throughout Austria on all means of public transport or an annual ticket from Wiener Linien for all employees.

In this way, the management wants to make a contribution to CO2 reduction and support climate-friendly travel to work. “With this offer, we want to show that we as a university take our responsibility for the environment seriously and send a signal for sustainable mobility. We also want to create an incentive and motivate employees to leave their cars behind and use the wide range of public transport available,” says Managing Director Gabriele Költringer. Florian Eckkrammer, also Managing Director of the University of Applied Sciences, adds: “We also want to position ourselves clearly as an employer here and are pleased to be able to offer our employees an additional benefit with an ecologically meaningful background in economically challenging times.”

The UAS Technikum Wien and the continuing education and digitalization Academy Technikum Wien GmbH currently have a total of 498 salaried employees.

By offering free public transport tickets, the University of Applied Sciences is further expanding its commitment to sustainability. Since the end of last year, the Technikum has also been a member of the “Alliance of Sustainable Universities”, through which the 13 participating educational institutions pool their activities in the field and implement measures in teaching, research, cooperation and university management.
