Greentec Campus Stockerau: Study Program in Dialogue with the Economy

Representatives of the Master’s degree program in Ecotoxicology & Environmental Management at UAS Technikum Wien discussed sustainability, energy efficiency and the circular economy with regional companies in Stockerau.
On June 25, 2024, an inspiring exchange took place at the GreenTec Campus Stockerau as part of the “Studies meet companies” program. Students and other representatives of the Master’s degree program in Ecotoxicology & Environmental Management at UAS Technikum Wien discussed important future topics such as sustainability, energy efficiency and the circular economy with regional companies.
Keynote speeches and discussions characterize the day
After a warm welcome by Andrea Völkl, Mayor of Stockerau, Andreas Klinger, Secretary General of the GreenTec Campus, moderated the event. Christian Moser, Vice President of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce, presented the vision and goals of the GreenTec Campus in his opening speech. This was followed by exciting keynote speeches, including one by Martina Ortbauer, head of the Master’s degree program in Ecotoxicology & Environmental Management at UAS Technikum Wien, who spoke about the importance of the circular economy and ecological innovations (green design) and environmental assessment methods.
Students present practical research work
There was a particular focus on the students of the MUT degree program, who presented their practice-oriented research projects. Caroline Trampisch presented her work on e-mobility, which was developed as part of an applied research project. Her hollistic approach and her investigation into the optimization of recycling management processes met with great interest in the Stockerau region and was the subject of intense discussion.
Cooperation between university and business is strengthened
Finally, Günter Essl, Barbara Gepp, Susanne Gangl and Caroline Trampisch (all UAS Technikum) discussed the possibilities of closer cooperation between students and companies with company representatives. Topics such as sustainability, in particular the challenges of recycling plastics (Terra Waste company), energy efficiency and digitalization were at the forefront. Andreas Klinger emphasized that this event was just the beginning of a long-term cooperation that had already started with previous initiatives such as “Start me up Monday – Circular Economy”.
GreenTec Campus in Stockerau: Pioneering technology center
The GreenTec Campus in Stockerau is a forward-looking technology center specializing in the fields of environment, energy and recycling management. The campus was founded on the initiative of the municipality of Stockerau and the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce to establish the region as a pioneer in sustainable technologies. It comprises the GreenTec StartUp Center, the GreenTec Study Center and the GreenTec R&D Center and offers a platform for cooperation between business, science and innovative start-ups.
