The online portal krone.at finances the tuition fees for four semesters for a Data Science student and provides insights into the digital department of Austria’s largest daily newspaper during her master’s thesis.

For the academic year 2022/23, the UAS Technikum Wien once again had the chance for a student to have the master’s program “Data Science” financed by krone.at and to have krone.at as a partner for the master’s thesis.

The Winner Is Very Happy.

“I am very happy about the opportunity to get an insight into practical Data Science topics through the krone.at scholarship and to be able to work on a really exciting topic in the course of a Master’s thesis and gain valuable experience in the process,” says the winner of the current call for applications, Anna-Christina Zechmeister. Not only will krone.at finance her tuition fees for four semesters, the student will also get an exclusive insight into the digital section of the country’s largest daily newspaper.

“Particularly Important Cooperation” for krone.at CEO Christopher Sima

krone.at CEO Christopher Sima is pleased to be able to sponsor a student again this year with this successful cooperation: “Anna-Christina will be able to exchange ideas directly with our data analysts as part of her master’s thesis and will have access to our data pool,” says Sima, who sees the cooperation with the UAS Technikum Wien “as a great opportunity to present our company as an employer to up-and-coming talents. As a large media company, it is particularly important for us to continue to be perceived as an interesting employer for young applicants in the future.”

Program director David Meyer is also pleased about the extension of the successful cooperation: “Ms. Zechmeister is a student in the part-time master’s program in Data Science at the UAS Technikum Wien, which, in addition to training in the core areas (e.g. Data Engineering, Machine Learning), aims in particular to develop practical solutions.”

The opportunity to write his master’s thesis in cooperation with the “Krone” was previously given to former graduate of the master’s program, Alexander Bruckner, among others. “It was particularly interesting to work with real, unprocessed data and thus also the discovery and development process within the data analysis project. Also, preparing and incorporating multiple data sources of different formats, sometimes with very high data volumes, was a complex problem for which the solution development was exciting,” says Bruckner.

Multifaceted Study With a Strong Practical Orientation

Data Science is a young but clearly established field that is in high demand. Data scientists need a multifaceted course of study with a strong practical orientation. Data analysis plays a central role in krone.at’s efforts to provide its readers with the best content at the right time. The cooperation between UAS Technikum Wien and krone.at therefore leads to great synergy effects and to the benefit of all involved.
