Perspectives, culture and knowledge: study trip to Bangkok
27 November, 2023
In October 2023, the Faculty of Computer Science & Applied Mathematics organized a study trip to Bangkok.
Students from the Computer Science, Information and Communication Systems, AI Engineering, Data Science and Software Engineering degree programs took part in the study trip to Bangkok.
Bangkok is considered a vibrant metropolis and a melting pot of different cultures and economic sectors and therefore offered the ideal setting to underline the importance of internationalization in studies.
The selection of companies, organizations and renowned universities that were visited offered a diverse mix. This gave the students a comprehensive insight into various globally active companies or locally active organizations and their working methods. The visits not only provided insights into local business practices, educational institutions and working cultures, but also encouraged the exchange of knowledge and ideas between the students and local professionals. The variety of institutions visited helped to provide a comprehensive picture of the economic and academic aspects of the city.
Interest in global technology trends aroused
“By participating in the study trip to Bangkok, I was able to experience first-hand the innovative technological developments that are driving the city. This valuable experience sparked my interest in global technology trends and gave me valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of the international technology industry,” said one UAS Technikum Wien student in an anonymous survey.

Bangkok as an important economic hub
The study trip not only offered professional insights, but also allowed participants to explore the sights and immerse themselves in Thailand’s fascinating culture. The vibrant city of Bangkok fascinated not only with its impressive skyline and lively atmosphere, but also with its mix of tradition and modernity.
The city is an important economic hub and at the same time rich in history and culture. From magnificent temples and palaces to lively street markets, the students were able to experience the diversity and vibrancy of this metropolis at first hand and also had the opportunity to enjoy the local cuisine.
Thanks to sponsorship from the International Office of UAS Technikum Wien, the students’ travel costs were reduced.
