27 November, 2023

Students from the Master’s degree programs in Information Systems at the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland and UAS Technikum Wien took part in a block event on the topic of consulting in mid-November.

On November 10 and 11, a block event on the topic of consulting took place at UAS Technikum Wien, attended by 34 students from the Master’s degree programs in Business Informatics at the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland and the UAS Technikum Wien.

The event not only covered the broad spectrum of this diverse field of activity, but also emphasized the importance of international cooperation. The course was organized by Philipp Schiedauf, who has many years of professional experience in consulting and has been working as an external lecturer at UAS Technikum Wien for 10 years.

In today’s globalized world, international cooperation is invaluable. Valuable insights, different perspectives and approaches can be experienced during studies in particular. We are therefore particularly pleased that this block course could be offered for the second time as a result of the good cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland and that it again met with such great interest.

Teaching content on the value chain of a professional consulting firm

The world of consulting was presented to the students as an extremely diverse field of work in which professional consultants not only solve problems, but also always strive for the best possible result for their clients. The participants were given an insight into a booming industry that covers the need for consulting services in a wide variety of subject areas. The practical design of the course enabled students to learn and apply various consulting methods, in particular by working on case studies.

The course content covered not only basic skills, but also the entire value chain of a professional consulting firm. The students gained the competence to explain the basics and prerequisites for professional consulting, to give an overview of the individual phases of the typical consulting process and to understand the relevance of ethics and regulations in the consulting environment.
