Quantum Technology: Summer School with 100 participants and a strong network

Abend Gruppe Summer School

31 August, 2023

Quantum cryptography, and thus a currently hotly debated aspect of quantum technology, was the focus of this year’s Quantum Technologies Summer School, which UAS Technikum Wien organized this time in cooperation with the Slovak Academy of Sciences. For one week at the end of August, 100 participants from different countries dealt with entangled photons, qubits and quantum keys and quantum algorithms. More than 200 applications from around the world underscore the appeal of the format.

“We introduce students to a complex subject in a summer atmosphere, without the pressure of exams and the stress of an ongoing semester,” says Lukas Mairhofer, Senior Lecturer/Researcher at UAS Technikum Wien. “This was very well received by students from Bachelor to PhD level.”

The mornings featured presentations by various companies and research institutions. In the afternoons, workshops were held in four thematic areas where students could focus on a project for a week.

“I would like to thank our many partners from business and academia who made the success of this format possible,” says Gerd Krizek, Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Physics at UAS Technikum Wien.

“Training Quantum Engineers”

UAS Technikum Wien is establishing itself as a training institution and interface in the field of quantum technologies. “Training Quantum Engineers” is the motto under which development work is being carried out at the Technikum, which is increasingly being reflected in educational offerings.
