She Goes Digital: Medical Technology and Software Development for Women

A workshop at UAS Technikum Wien offered women insights into digital medical technology and software development, including lab tours and practical experience in the areas of accessibility, usability and coding.
On April 10, 2024, a half-day workshop was held at UAS Technikum Wien to introduce women to the world of medical technology and software development. Under the motto “Digital World of Medical Technology and Software Development”, the participants were given exclusive insights into the laboratory environments and research activities of the Computer Science & Applied Matehmatics and Life Science Engineering faculties.
A look behind the scenes
The women had the opportunity to explore the state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure at UAS Technikum Wien, including an intensive care unit, a data center and rehabilitation and gait analysis environments. These facilities provide students with realistic experience and hands-on training in the fields of Medical Engineering & Integrated Healthcare and Software Engineering and Architecture.
Diverse topics and practical experience
Under the guidance of experts, the participants immersed themselves in various topics, including accessibility, web design, user-centered design, usability, rehabilitation technology and software development. At the coding workshop, the women had the opportunity to become active themselves and gain their first experience in the field of software development – without any previous knowledge.
