Every year, ambassadors for Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps are honoured by the OeAD, the Agency for Education and Internationalisation. These individuals are distinguished by their personal commitment and dedication and make a significant contribution to the success of the European programs. They are role models for living internationality.
For 2024, Stefan Litzenberger, Head of the Bachelor‘s Sports Engineering and Ergonomics and Master‘s Sports Technology programs at UAS Technikum Wien, was selected from a large number of applications as national Erasmus+ Ambassador 2024 in the field of higher education.
Stefan Litzenberger has been involved in various Erasmus+ activities over the last years, including the Erasmus+ Knowledge Alliance A4SEE, a European alliance for the education of sports engineers, which brings together higher education institutions (HEIs) and partners from industry who are working together to improve the education of sports engineers in tertiary education and the workplace.
„‘What I always remember is the enthusiasm of the students, who work on solutions to problems with like-minded people from different countries, contribute their strengths and learn from each other. Despite all the differences, it is also the similarities, the togetherness, mutual understanding, working together and having fun – even outside of the work process – that create a sense of togetherness and a feeling of European identity on a small scale.’“

Embedding the diversity of Europe in the curriculum
For ten years now, the Master’s program has also been successfully running a double degree program with Mid Sweden University, which was renewed for a further five years in 2024.
Practical Sports Measurement Weeks have been held at Brno University of Technology for a few years now, allowing the resources of the partner HEI to be utilised jointly. Together with Brno, Stefan Litzenberger also developed the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program ‘Technological innovation to support coaching in sports and health’, which was carried out alternately with other HEIs in Finland, Germany, and the Netherlands.
His international commitment is reflected in his business trips as part of Erasmus+ Staff Mobility, including to Aalborg University in January 2024 and Loughborough University in October 2024.
In his work, Stefan Litzenberger has been able to actively promote and disseminate the values and opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ program. Through his previous activities at UAS Technikum Wien, he has proven that he encourages students to embark on new adventures, leave their comfort zone, and discover the diversity of Europe.
