SVS and Technikum bridge the gap between theory and practice

28 November, 2023
UX, security and more: Social Insurance for the Self-Employed (SVS), UAS Technikum Wien and Technikum Wien Academy have been cooperating successfully for years.
The development of innovative solutions for complex challenges is made possible by a cooperation between the Sozialversicherung der Selbständigen (Social Insurance for the Self-Employed -SVS), UAS Technikum Wien and Technikum Wien Academy. Students gain valuable insights through the direct application of their acquired knowledge in the day-to-day work of an organization.
For the SVS, the cooperation with UAS Technikum Wien and Technikum Wien Academy offers direct access to innovative ideas and the latest specialist knowledge. Joint projects promote the transfer of knowledge and contribute to the development of innovative solutions for complex topics, which have a positive impact on the efficiency and innovative strength of both partners.
Evaluation of SVS applications for usability
For example, students on the Master’s course in User Experience Management at Technikum Wien Academy have been evaluating SVS applications in terms of their usability for two years now and providing valuable suggestions for improvement.
Thomas Dabernig‘s master’s thesis from the Software Engineering master’s course entitled “Implementing security benchmarks in the cloud” also shows how promising scientific work on practical topics can be. The Master’s thesis was supervised by Alexander Nimmervoll at UAS Technikum Wien and ranges from researching the theoretical foundations and international standards to the practical implementation of a security benchmark.
Mr. Dabernig’s successful graduation was duly celebrated at a breakfast hosted by the SVS General Management under the direction of Dr. Hans Aubauer together with Alexander Nimmervoll and Benedikt Salzbrunn, who has coordinated the cooperation since the beginning.
Plans for the future
There are already concrete plans for the future of the collaboration between SVS and UAS Technikum Wien: another master’s thesis is being written on the topic of “Possibilities for improving the user experience of SVS services through the targeted use of AI” in the master’s course in User Experience Management.
The IT Security master’s course at UAS Technikum Wien is working on a master’s thesis entitled “Preparing SVS for the NIS-2 Directive”. The NIS 2 Directive aims to strengthen cyber security in the European Union, in particular requirements for the security of critical infrastructures and digital service providers.
