Human and Environment in Interaction
The master’s degree program trains specialized environmental scientists and environmental managers for industry. The program provides ecotoxicological expertise on the effects of substances at all biological levels, from the cell to the organism to the ecosystem. Graduates can thus identify potential hazards to the environment and incorporate appropriate risk assessments into work and production processes. With the comprehensive knowledge in environmental management, graduates can implement the use of sustainable technologies within the framework of environmental management systems and thus contribute to a more environmentally friendly and at the same time more economical economy.

Career Prospects
Environmental scientists and managers are in great demand on the job market:
- With their knowledge they are perfectly trained for food production, recycling sector (e.g. waste), transport sector (e.g. dangerous goods), public sector, but also for consulting activities in environmental management.
- They work, for example, as technical environmental managers in the public and private sectors, as external environmental consultants or as scientific staff in ecotoxicological projects and research institutes.
- Typical duties include conducting research studies and tests, collecting samples to identify sources of environmental problems, or assessing compliance with government and internal environmental regulations
Requirements
Master’s degree programs build on a completed bachelor’s degree program and allow students to specialize or focus on topics in more detail or to expand their existing expertise.
You must meet subject-matter requirements to be admitted to the Ecotoxicology & Environmental Management master’s degree program. Prerequisites include a bachelor’s degree from a UAS in a relevant subject matter or an equivalent degree from a recognized post-secondary educational institution (at least 180 ECTS credits) in Austria or another country.
If basic equivalence has been established except for a few missing prerequisites, the program director can require students to take exams to establish full equivalence. These exams are taken during the master’s program.
