Internet of Things and Smart Systems

Master’s Degree Program at UAS Technikum Wien

Overview

The focus of the enhanced degree program is on the analysis, conceptual design and implementation of IoT systems.

Program

Three central components are in the foreground:

System term

Holistic systems

Network term

Networking systems

Smartness

Automation or support

The networking of everyday objects, buildings, industrial plants and even cities is steadily advancing and becoming increasingly important. This networking is summarized under the term Internet of Things (IoT). Efficient integration is of central importance to ensure safe and reliable overall systems. This degree program combines the fields of system development and communication technologies and thus represents a contemporary education for developers in this future market.

“The wide range of skills taught allows students to pursue a variety of careers in the IoT industry,” explains program director Thomas Polzer. “The specialization topics offered provide in-depth training and thus enable an optimal springboard for a professional career.”

Typical activities that can be performed after graduation are, for example: IoT System Architect, IoT Network Engineer, IoT Software Developer, IoT Data Scientist, IoT Security Engineer and IoT Business Analyst.

Requirements

Master’s degree programs build on a completed bachelor’s degree program and allow students to specialize or focus on topics in more detail or to expand their existing expertise.

You must meet subject-matter requirements to be admitted to the Internet of Things and Smart Systems master’s degree program. Prerequisites include a bachelor’s degree from a UAS in a relevant subject matter or an equivalent degree from a recognized post-secondary educational institution (at least 180 ECTS credits) in Austria or another country.

If basic equivalence has been established except for a few missing prerequisites, the program director can require students to take exams to establish full equivalence. These exams are taken during the master’s program.
