Matthias Frohner is a senior lecturer and researcher at the faculty of “Life Science Engineering” in the competence field “Medical Engineering & Integrated Healthcare”. His main area of research lies in the field of standardized communication of medical devices and health data. Furthermore, he is a core member of the research focus team “Data-Driven, Smart & Secure Systems”.
In 2008, he started his work in the field of personal health device communication by implementing standardized interfaces to integrate those devices seamlessly into patient-centric integrated care paths. Mr Frohner contributes to different funded research projects, develops (mobile) software applications and shares the knowledge gained in lectures for students and industry. He is a certified software tester (Foundation Level) and took part in interoperability test events hosted by IHE and the Personal Connected Health Alliance.
He is actively involved in the development of HL7 CDA implementation guidelines for the Austrian electronic health record system ELGA, the Austrian Ministry of Health, and the Austrian doctors’ chamber. Beside the interoperability issues addressed in the field of health IT, Matthias Frohner is investigating processes to enhance interoperability in the energy domain.
