Category: Best Lecturer

The Best Lecturer category recognizes ambitious lecturers who, through their extraordinary commitment, contribute to providing their students with an excellent technical education at FHTW. Their professional expertise, their passion for teaching and their genuine interest in the success of their students mean that the courses they teach are experienced by students as particularly exciting and meaningful. The criteria that the judges will use to assess submissions in this category are as follows:
  • The lecturer uses varied teaching/learning methods and provides comprehensible learning materials that are in line with academic discourse.
  • The teacher encourages in-depth and, if necessary, critical examination of the content and promotes independent learning on the part of the students.
  • The teacher strives to create a learning-friendly atmosphere, responds to the needs of the student group and endeavors to provide regular feedback.
  • The teacher acts as a role model by arousing curiosity for the respective content and encouraging or inspiring closer examination.

*e.g. What helped you feel well prepared for the exams? Which exercise options were particularly helpful for you? How were the objectives of the course made clear to you? Were there opportunities to regularly check your own learning status?

*e.g. How was communication done? How were the learning materials designed? How did you receive feedback? Were there different forms of collaboration among the students, e.g. group work, presentations, etc.?

*e.g. Were everyday/practical examples from different professional contexts shown? Was it possible to clarify why the content is needed in everyday working life? Were practical applications carried out in addition to theoretical content?

*e.g. Did the course help make your learning more efficient? Do you feel well prepared for subsequent courses and if so, how? Were there any food for thought and/or challenges that kept you busy even after the course was over?
