During the past winter semester, I had the incredible opportunity to study at the Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering in Aarhus, Denmark, as part of the Erasmus+ program. It was a truly enriching experience, both academically and personally, and I am excited to share my impressions and memories.
Arrival in Aarhus
I arrived in Aarhus in mid-August and was immediately greeted by a wonderful Danish late summer. The city’s charm and welcoming atmosphere made it easy to settle in. Aarhus, though small, is vibrant and full of life, offering a perfect mix of modernity and tradition.
Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering
At the Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering, I participated in the Energy, Technology, and Management module. The academic environment was excellent, with small class sizes that fostered teamwork and active participation. The professors were approachable, and the relationship between students and faculty was refreshingly informal – everyone was on a first-name basis. This created a comfortable and collaborative learning environment where we not only gained knowledge but also had fun along the way.
Our class was a wonderful mix of international and Danish students, creating a dynamic and multicultural atmosphere. We quickly became a close-knit group, sharing countless memorable experiences. We explored the city together, enjoyed local events, and even celebrated like true Danes. The friendships we formed were a highlight of the semester, and I am grateful to have met such amazing people.
“Between studying and socializing”
Aarhus is a fantastic city for students. Its compact size makes it easy to navigate, yet it offers plenty of activities to enjoy. From cozy cafes to beautiful parks and the lively harbor, there was always something to do. The balance between studying and socializing was perfect, and I made the most of my time in this vibrant city. Your main way of transportation will be a bike. 😉
Looking back, my Erasmus+ semester in Aarhus was one of the best experiences of my life. I gained invaluable knowledge in my field of study, formed lifelong friendships, and experienced the unique Danish way of life. I wholeheartedly recommend Aarhus and the Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering to anyone considering an Erasmus+ semester in Denmark.
