Citizens4PED
It is much easier to develop a Positive Energy District (PED) from scratch, with new near-zero energy buildings and a new energy system. However, European cities have also to retrofit the existing building stock in the perspective of providing entire areas with sustainable energy. The project proposal aims to advance the knowledge on, and the practical feasibility of, applying the PED framework to just energy & climate transitions, by targeting a distinctively challenging implementation context, that is, existing neighbourhoods with a remarkable share of both low-quality buildings and low-income households. The project will study how PED can develop solidarities among their inhabitants and with the neighbourhood.
