Master’s program for ERP Consulting: Technikum Wien Academy to address another field of the future
23. März 2021
The new Master’s program for ERP Consulting at Technikum Wien Academy will be launching in autumn 2021.
Timely and demand-oriented planning and management are the central challenges to be addressed by successful companies. Trends clearly show businesses moving towards web-based systems that are able to communicate with each other, exchange information and data and therefore significantly increase the efficiency of business processes. Such processes require enterprise resource planning systems. These systems support and steer such aspects of business as budgeting, risk management, inventory management, knowledge management and resource planning in the fields of finance and personnel. The new Master’s program for ERP Consulting at Technikum Wien Academy is to launch in autumn 2021 and will be addressing these highly relevant topics.
The specialists of the future
The new degree program will be familiarizing students with two major ERP systems – those by Microsoft and SAP – and showing them how to use them. Students will not only learn to choose the appropriate versions but they’re also going to be taught how to offer their expertise in consulting services that revolve around such systems. The program will also prepare students for various certifications. It will conclude after four semesters with the ‘Master of Science’ academic degree. People taking the course will already be able to decide at registration whether they wish to specialize in one or both ERP systems. The Master’s program for ERP Consulting is structured as a three-stage model that allows for intermediate qualifications to be achieved.
The program will not only cover the skills needed for the work as an ERP consultant, it will also familiarize students with requirements management, process management and project management. The lecturers in this Master’s program are experts from the world of business and are able to combine practical application with theoretical principles. “The Master’s program is aimed at people who’ve already come into contact with ERP systems as well as at employees from other specialist departments who are planning or are going to be working with ERP in the future. The different specializations mean that the program is available in three forms that therefore enable us to respond to various target groups of students,” said UAS Prof. Sylvia Geyer, head of the ERP Consulting program.
Experts in project management
ERP consultants are experts in enterprise resource planning, i.e. the planning of such business requirements as capital, personnel and operating resources. They’re able to map processes and show how workflows within companies can be optimized. Data obtained from these systems constitute the perfect foundation for decisions that need to be taken at management level and enable efficiencies to be increased and future demands to be forecast. Advancing digitalization poses challenges but is also generating a range of opportunities for companies. It’s making it necessary to analyze and rethink business processes. Future-proof solutions are needed – but even more importantly – suitable consultants are required for the handling of central data management, increased competitiveness and efficient requirements planning.
