Helping to develop the networked world: Info session on the new master’s degree program Internet of Things and Smart Systems 

The networking of everyday objects, buildings, industrial plants and even cities is progressing steadily and is becoming increasingly important. This networking is summarized under the term Internet of Things (IoT). Efficient integration is of central importance to ensure safe and reliable overall systems.

With the master’s degree program Internet of Things and Smart Systems, the UAS Technikum Wien has created a new, tailor-made study program for this future market. The program, which will start this fall, combines the fields of system development and communication technologies and thus represents a contemporary education for developers in this field. On 12.5. from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., the FHTW invites to an online info session, in which interested students can inform in detail about contents and expiration of the new master course of studies.

For the new course the already existing master´s degree program Telecommunications and Internet Technologies was developed further and adapted to the current requirements of the market. The focus of the study, which is held in the evening, is now on the analysis, conceptual design and implementation of IoT systems. The focus is on three central components: Holistic systems (system concept), interconnectin of systems (network concept), and automation and support (smartness).

“The wide range of skills taught allows students to pursue a variety of careers in the IoT industry,” explains program director Thomas Polzer. “The specialization topics offered provide in-depth training and thus enable an optimal springboard for a professional career.”

Typical jobs which can be pursued after graduation include: IoT system architect, IoT network engineer, IoT software developer, IoT data scientist, IoT security engineer and IoT business analyst.

The prerequisite for admission to the new master’s degree program is a completed UAS bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject or the completion of an equivalent program at an established domestic or foreign university. Studies in the fields of (technical) computer science, software, communication systems and electronics are considered equivalent.

The new master’s program will start in the winter semester of 2021. Applications for a place on the program are still possible until May 31.
